Multiplayer

Multiplayer

Multiplayer lets multiple people participate in the same conversation at the same time. You can invite colleagues, assign different roles, and see who is typing.

Enabling multiplayer

  1. Open a conversation.
  2. Open the conversation menu (three-dot button in the header) and choose Share….
  3. Under Collaboration, click Enable.

You can also enable it from the Members tab of the Tools panel. Once enabled, the conversation is ready to accept participants.

Inviting participants

  1. With multiplayer enabled, open Tools in the conversation header and switch to the Members tab.
  2. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
  3. Choose their role: Member or Observer (see below).
  4. Click Invite.

The person receives an invitation. Pending invitations are listed in the panel until they are accepted, and you can cancel them there.

You can also create an invite link from the same panel: anyone who opens the link joins the conversation as a member. Revoke a link at any time.

Participant roles

Member participants can send messages to the conversation, just like you. Use this for people you want to actively collaborate with.

Observer participants can read all messages but cannot send any. Use this for people who need to follow along without contributing, such as a manager reviewing a conversation.

Live typing indicators

When another participant is composing a message, a typing indicator with their name appears at the bottom of the conversation. This updates in real time so you always know if someone else is about to send something. You also see the avatars of everyone currently viewing the conversation in the header.

Changing a participant’s role

  1. Open the Members tab of the Tools panel.
  2. Find the participant you want to update.
  3. Click the role selector next to their name.
  4. Choose Member (can write) or Observer (read only).

The change takes effect immediately. You can also mute a participant, which keeps them in the conversation but blocks their messages until you unmute them.

Removing a participant

  1. Open the Members tab of the Tools panel.
  2. Find the participant you want to remove.
  3. Click the remove icon next to their name, then click it again to confirm.

Removed participants lose access to the conversation immediately and it disappears from their sidebar.

Disabling multiplayer

To turn multiplayer off and return a conversation to single-user mode, open the Share… dialog and toggle Collaboration off.

Disabling multiplayer ends access for all participants. The conversation history is preserved.
